Whether your business is B2B (Business to Business) or B2C (Business to Consumer), LinkedIn need to be in your marketing/networking arsenal. Most people describe LinkedIn as Facebook for professionals but it’s really so much more than that! Think of LinkedIn as a relationship building tool – an extension of your networking. LinkedIn has really done a great job building out a robust set of options for professionals so gain exposure, network, stay in touch with contacts, market their services and stay on top of news in their industry.
Here are some things you can do with LinkedIn to stay on top of your game no matter what your profession or industry.
Use the LinkedIn Connections Tab
Did you know that LinkedIn can basically replace your rolodex? Stop saving business cards and start connecting with everyone you meet on LinkedIn. You’ll expand your network and you’ll be more organized. Through the LinkedIn Connections tab, you can add any contact information you get from a business card, add notes, enter in how you met to remind you of how you know that person, and LinkedIn even keeps a record of email exchanges you’ve had with that person.
Network in Groups
LinkedIn Groups are a great way to network, interact with others in your industry, share information or start discussions. You can also send InMails to people who are in the same groups as you without being a connection.
LinkedIn Pulse
LinkedIn wants to be your source for industry, business, and professional news like this w2 maker review. They’ve got a slew of contributors who are leaders in their industry creating great content that is exclusive to LinkedIn. If you want to stay on-top, follow by industry or by person.
LinkedIn Posts
First let me explain some LinkedIn terminology: LinkedIn Updates are what goes in your news feed – the equivalent of a Facebook post. LinkedIn Posts, are articles that you can write that stay attached to your profile. Why write articles on LinkedIn rather than linking to a blog on your website? Because everyone you are connected to gets a notification when you create a new “Post”. That post also lives under your profile for anyone looking at your profile to read.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for LinkedIn. As a social media channel, LinkedIn will continue to grow and get more powerful. For paid options, LinkedIn also has incredible features for sales, recruitment, advertising and more. Jump on the LinkedIn bandwagon and get networking!
