It seems to be getting harder and harder for businesses to get through to fans on Facebook. Have you noticed that while you have over 1,000 fans, you only seem to be reaching double digits? This is because Facebook has a complex algorithm that determines who sees what in their Facebook feed. There are about 10,000 different factors that go into the algorithm but some weigh more heavily than others. Here are four things you can do to help increase that reach and get in front of your fans!

Post Consistently 

If you’re posting infrequently, you will likely never reach the fans you want. Facebook puts a lot of weight on how often you post so if you’re not posting daily, make a plan to start. You should also peer into your Facebook insights to see what the optimal times are to post. Head to your Facebook Insights tab and click on Posts to see a breakdown of activity by day and then plan to post during those peak times.

Post more videos

With YouTube, Vimeo, Meerkat, Periscope, and Vine, it’s becoming apparent that videos are a necessity for brands. Even Facebook has been giving more weight to videos these days. Time to get creative and make a video or two. It could be an interview, a whiteboard video, a behind the scenes look, or a something goofy you know your fans will love! Here’s another tip: rather than uploading to YouTube and linking to the video, upload the video diectly to Facebook. It will get twice the reach that way.

Run a contest  

Do a product, gift card or ticket giveaway to boost engagement. More engagement is your golden ticket to Facebook reach! You can ask fans to leave a comment, answer trivia, like the post, etc. Anything to get them to engage. Word of warning: Be sure to follow Facebook’s Promotion Guidelines or you could risk having your page shut down.
